Dickey Betts, co-founder of the legendary Allman Brothers Band, turns 80 today. To celebrate his milestone birthday, Sunset Blvd Records is releasing a special live double CD set featuring Betts and his band, Great Southern.
The CD set, entitled "Dickey Betts Great Southern Official," will be released on April 30 and is available for pre-order now. It features live recordings from Betts' performances in 2016 and 2017, and showcases his signature guitar playing and songwriting.
Betts is widely recognized as one of the most influential guitar players of all time. His distinctive style and innovative techniques have earned him accolades from critics and fellow musicians alike. He is also known for his songwriting contributions to the Allman Brothers Band, including classic tracks like "Ramblin' Man" and "Blue Sky."
In addition to the live CD release, Betts is also celebrating his birthday with a special performance at the Brookhaven Amphitheater in Long Island, New York, on May 14. The show will feature Betts and his current band, the Dickey Betts Band.
