Arsenal handed huge transfer blow as manager rules out summer sale
Arsenal have been handed a major transfer blow as Barcelona manager Xavi has ruled out the sale of wonderkid Gavi this summer.
The 18-year-old midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, with reports suggesting that Arsenal were prepared to offer up to £50 million for his services.
However, Xavi has made it clear that Gavi is not for sale, and that he is an important part of his plans for the future.
"Gavi is a very important player for us," Xavi said. "He is a player with a lot of potential, and we are counting on him for the future."
"I know there has been a lot of speculation about his future, but I can assure you that he is not for sale."
Gavi has made 47 appearances for Barcelona this season, scoring two goals and providing three assists.
He has also been capped four times by Spain, and is widely regarded as one of the most promising young midfielders in the world.
