Brewers Trade for Catcher Caratini, Add Jackson

Caratini Homers in Debut

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — The Milwaukee Brewers acquired backup catcher Victor Caratini in a trade with the San Diego Padres on Wednesday and also added catcher Alex Jackson in a separate deal. Caratini made his Brewers debut on Wednesday night and homered in a 6-5 win over the St. Louis Cardinals.

Caratini Traded from Padres

Caratini, 29, was hitting .250 with two home runs and 10 RBIs in 56 games for the Padres this season. He was acquired by the Brewers for a player to be named later.

Jackson Acquired from Giants

Jackson, 26, was hitting .241 with one home run and 12 RBIs in 54 games for the San Francisco Giants' Triple-A affiliate this season. He was acquired by the Brewers for cash considerations.

Caratini Homers in Debut

Caratini made his Brewers debut on Wednesday night and hit a three-run homer in the fifth inning off Cardinals starter Miles Mikolas. His homer gave the Brewers a 4-2 lead at the time.

Perkins Adds Solo Shot

Brewers outfielder Blake Perkins added a solo homer in the seventh inning to give the Brewers a 6-3 lead. It was Perkins' fourth home run of the season.

Brewers Win 6-5

The Brewers held on to win the game 6-5, improving to 35-31 on the season. Cardinals starter Miles Mikolas took the loss, allowing five runs on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings.
