Vancouver Canucks Acquire Dakota Joshua
Canucks Add Size and Physicality to Bottom Six
March 8, 2024
Vancouver, BC - The Vancouver Canucks announced today that they have acquired forward Dakota Joshua from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.
Joshua, 27, has spent the past two seasons with the Maple Leafs, where he has registered 28 points (14 goals, 14 assists) in 113 regular season games. He has also appeared in 12 playoff games, recording two assists.
Known for his size (6'3", 225 lbs) and physicality, Joshua is expected to provide the Canucks with a much-needed boost to their bottom six. He is a strong skater with a good shot and is not afraid to go into the corners and battle for the puck.
The Canucks did not add any other players on deadline day, but they were able to improve their team with the addition of Joshua. He is a solid two-way forward who can contribute offensively and defensively, and he should be a good fit for the Canucks' style of play.
Joshua is expected to make his Canucks debut on March 10 when they host the Edmonton Oilers.
