Early Life and Education

Paul Davis Ryan was born on January 29, 1970, in Janesville, Wisconsin. He graduated from high school in 1988 and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in political science and economics from Miami University of Ohio in 1992.

Political Career

Ryan began his political career as a legislative aide for Senator Bob Kasten of Wisconsin. In 1998, he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives to represent Wisconsin's 1st Congressional District.

In 2015, Ryan was elected Speaker of the House of Representatives. He served in this role until 2019. In 2012, Ryan was selected as Mitt Romney's running mate in the presidential election.
