WEB Families mark 10 years of pain since MH17 flight disaster
As the 10th anniversary of the tragedy approaches, families of the victims are still searching for answers and justice.
On July 17 2014, Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 was shot down killing all 298 people on board including 38 Australians.
The plane was flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur when it was hit by a surface-to-air missile over eastern Ukraine. The conflict in the region between Ukrainian government forces and pro-Russian separatists had been escalating in the months leading up to the disaster.
In the years since the tragedy, there has been much speculation about who was responsible for shooting down MH17. An international investigation concluded that the missile was fired from a Buk missile system that belonged to the Russian military. However, Russia has denied any involvement in the downing of the plane.
The families of the victims have been left devastated by the loss of their loved ones. They have been campaigning for justice and accountability, and have been calling for the perpetrators to be brought to trial.
The 10th anniversary of the MH17 disaster is a reminder of the tragic loss of life that occurred that day. It is also a reminder of the importance of justice and accountability, and the need to ensure that such a tragedy never happens again.
