Head-On Collision Kills One, Injures Three on Highway 40 Near Château-Richer
Police investigating fatal crash involving two vehicles, asking for witnesses to come forward
A head-on collision on Highway 40 near Château-Richer has claimed the life of one person and injured three others, according to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The SQ said the crash occurred around 7:15 p.m. on Sunday, July 30, on Highway 40 near rang Sainte-Anne in Château-Richer, about 30 kilometres northeast of Quebec City.
The initial investigation revealed that a westbound vehicle crossed the centre line and collided head-on with an eastbound vehicle, said SQ spokesperson Béatrice Dorsainville.
The driver of the westbound vehicle, a 23-year-old man from Saint-Raymond-de-Portneuf, was pronounced dead at the scene, Dorsainville said.
The three occupants of the eastbound vehicle, two women aged 23 and 24 and a 24-year-old man, were transported to hospital with serious injuries, added Dorsainville. .
The SQ is investigating the cause of the crash and is asking any witnesses to come forward.
